Former Georgia School Employees Indicted on Charges of Inappropriate Relations with Students

(LLP) July 6, 2024 – In a shocking development, two former employees of the Calhoun City Schools district, Railey Greeson and Brooklyn Shuler, have been indicted on charges of having inappropriate relations with students. The indictments were handed down on July 2, 2024, following an investigation into incidents that allegedly occurred between October 2021 and January 2022.

Greeson and Shuler, who were best friends and worked closely within the school district, are facing first-degree charges of sexual contact by an employee. The charges carry severe penalties, including up to 25 years in prison or a fine of up to $100,000 if convicted.

The investigation began after allegations surfaced regarding the inappropriate conduct of the two employees with students. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the relationships or the number of students involved, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the need to protect the privacy of the victims.

Calhoun City Schools has released a statement expressing deep concern over the allegations and emphasizing their commitment to the safety and well-being of their students.

"We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and are conducting our own internal review to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future," the statement read.

Parents and community members have expressed shock and outrage over the news.

"It's devastating to think that something like this could happen in our schools," said one parent, who wished to remain anonymous. "We trust the school to keep our children safe, and this betrayal is hard to comprehend."

Both Greeson and Shuler have been released on bail and are awaiting trial. Their attorneys have declined to comment on the charges at this time.

As the legal process unfolds, the community remains on edge, grappling with the implications of the allegations and the impact on the students involved. The case has sparked a broader conversation about the measures in place to protect students and the responsibilities of school employees.

This case continues to develop, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
