Queensland's Largest Underground Coal Mine Engulfed in Ferocious Fire

By Libertylens Post

Date: July 3, 2024

A massive underground coal mine in Queensland has been ravaged by a relentless fire for five days, with flames continuing to spread until all access points to the surface are sealed.

The inferno has been raging at the mine, located in the Bowen Basin region, since last Wednesday. Firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain the blaze, but their efforts have been hindered by the mine's complex layout and safety concerns.

According to authorities, the fire is expected to continue burning until all access points to the surface are sealed, a process that could take several days.

"The fire is still burning fiercely, and our priority is to ensure the safety of everyone in the area," said a spokesperson for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

The mine's operator has evacuated all personnel and suspended operations until further notice. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
