Trump Distances Himself from Project 2025, Denies Involvement

(LLP) — Former President Donald Trump has publicly disavowed Project 2025, a proposed overhaul of the federal government drafted by his longtime allies and former administration officials. Trump's statement comes days after the think tank behind the project suggested a "second American Revolution."

On his social media platform, Trump posted,

"I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they're saying, and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them."

Project 2025 outlines a dramatic expansion of presidential power and a plan to fire up to 50,000 government workers, replacing them with Trump loyalists. The proposal has drawn attention from President Joe Biden's reelection campaign, which seeks to highlight the agenda amidst Biden's efforts to maintain Democratic support following his recent debate performance.

Trump has separately outlined his own plans to remake the government if re-elected, including the largest deportation operation in U.S. history and tariffs on potentially all imports. His campaign has warned outside allies not to presume to speak for the former president, suggesting their transition-in-waiting efforts are unhelpful.

Trump's disavowal of Project 2025 may indicate a desire to distance himself from the controversial proposal, which has sparked concerns about authoritarianism and violence. As the presidential race heats up, Trump's involvement with Project 2025 remains a topic of scrutiny.
